Lost love is sad, isn't it? This is an older song about just that. A lost love that launched a hundred songs, a thousand shots of whiskey, and an ocean of tears. My coping skills devolved into morbid songwriting, fantasy, binge drinking, and the like. Eventually I found delusional comfort in convincing myself that I and said lost lover were together in some alternate universe somewhere, down in my dream, our lost love fossilized (immortalized?) in song. Oh how I wish I could go back in time and give this poor girl a hug and tell her everything will be ok. Sigh.
